Sandridge Barton's Don’t Feed The Ponies is an experimental range of low intervention wines from South Devon. A rich and oxidative wine made with 60% skin contact and barrel matured Pinot Gris and Madeleine Angevine matured in stainless steel. After one year the wines were blended where they matured for a further 24 months in old French oak barrels with some under a flor. The resulting wine has baked apple, bruised apricot and nutty characteristics with good weight, balance and grip. Goes great with some anchovies. ABV: 10.5%
ABOUT THE MAKER
Sandridge Barton's Don’t Feed The Ponies is an experimental range of low intervention wines from South Devon. With over 40 years of making wine under their belts, Sandridge are paying homage to Dartmoor's National Park, and the wild ponies that roam the moors. Each wine is named after a different rocky Tor, with 25p of every bottle going to the Dartmoor Preservation Association. They’re spontaneously fermented, un-filtered, and draw upon winemaking techniques from the past.
