Espera, led by Rodrigo Martins, crafts wines in Alcobaça, north of Lisbon, using organic, heritage-driven methods that connect each vintage to the region's natural rhythms and Cistercian history. This is a traditional 'field blend' of red and white grapes, co-fermented for a light, fresh and easy drinking wine which makes a super juicy blend from Portugal. Some winos calling this style a blouge (blanc-rouge) lol. Super chillable. A fine selection of the best grapes from an old parcel with south-east exposition of clay and limestone soil. ABV: 11.5%.
ABOUT THE MAKER
Espera is the vision of Rodrigo Martins, who draws inspiration from the concept of "waiting" to connect his organically farmed vineyards in the Alcobaça region, just north of Lisbon, to the rhythms of nature. With 5 hectares dedicated to indigenous grape varieties, including the renowned Touriga Nacional, Rodrigo crafts each cuvée with a unique approach, allowing the wine to evolve based on its vintage. By embracing the historical winemaking practices of the area's Cistercian monks, Espera offers a true reflection of Alcobaça's terroir and rich heritage.
